How To Generate More Revenue From A Forum Advertisements?

October 17th, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

I have a forum (im not linking back to it) that is ranked 210,000 on Alexa, but i only generate $1-$3 per day and alot of places i do research on say that i could get at least $15 in ads per day.

Right now i use vBulletin and Google Adsense. Any suggestions?

You need to get CPM ads — cost per impression

Forum users are notorious for ignoring ads. Afterall, they come to the forum to discuss and interact with other community members.

Google Adsense will do very poorly for you, unless you get an insane amount of traffic — which clearly don’t have at this point. Forum members hardly click on ads or respond to ads, so cost per click ads such as Adsense or even cost per action ads such as those by Commission Junction will do poorly for you

Try banner ad networks and see if you can get accepted. Examples include Burst Media http://www.burstmedia.com or Tribal Fusion http://www.tribalfusion.com

Then try to sell your own ads. Use an ad server such as OpenX, which also has a marketplace
